Information

Omega Sigma Tau is the first and largest Asian-interest fraternity established at UCLA. We proudly enter our 44th year of leadership, excellence, lifelong friendships, and service to our community. Even after four decades, our ideals remain stout: Brotherhood, Class, Confidence, Excellence, and Diversity. Termed the "Gentlemen of Asian Greek Council(AGC)," Omegas excel academically, socially, and mentally. You will not find our fraternity anywhere else for we are proud to be the only chapter of its kind as our founding fathers envisioned. The experience of being part of Omegas is unlike anything you've ever imagined. If you decide to become a part of it, you will greatly mature, develop countless friendships, and be more confident in everything you do.

Omega Sigma Tau was founded in 1966 by Ron Watanabe, Bob Tsutsui, and Dennis Onoda of the Nissei Bruins Men's Club. These three names are icons in our history because of their efforts and their contributions to Omegas as presidents of the fraternity. The initial charter ground that they formed with other members of the Nissei Bruins Men's club consisted of sixty-three men.

Since its found in 1966. Omegas has grown to become one of the largest and most active fraternities at UCLA. Although the size of the fraternity does fluctuate, Omega Sigma Tau maintains an average of 65 members per year, and this fraternity has seen days when there were over 80 members during a school year.

The true strength of the fraternity lies in our ideals: Brotherhood, Class, Confidence, Excellence, and Diversity. Throughout pledging, our active year, and even our everyday lives these are the key traits that Omegas exhibit. We constantly strive to improve ourselves and those around us. The lessons you learn in Omegas will forever influence your life and character.

You cannot be an Omega unless you are a Bruin. Academics are the main reason we are here at UCLA. Although Omegas participate in many events, they are not at the expense of academics. It is not expected that members must attend all events. Omegas have a GPA requirement of 2.5 and we also provide an academic mentoring program to help members smoothly transition into college and successfully plan their career. Omegas have exclusive access to our test bank as well and peer guidance of other older Omegas in the same major. Excelling in school is just as important as excelling in the fraternity. Scholarships are awarded annually to members who exhibit excellence in both these categories.

Your social life is one of the essential parts of the college experience. Therefore, Omegas always have a calendar full of fun and exciting events. Omega Sigma Tau is an active member of the Asian Greek Council (AGC) of Southern California: a group of 20 fraternities and sororities. Throughout the year, Omegas hold exchanges with sororities inside as well as outside of AGC. Additionally, Omegas host a variety of parties: Flomega, Deuces Wild, and Battle Royale. People from all over Califormia come to our famous Battle Royale Party, which had over a thousand people in attendance this past Spring. Our social calendar is not confined to the academic year. Over the summer, Omegas hav an annual NorCal trip and, during winter, Omegas and the lovely ladies from our sister sorority Chi Alpha Delta go on our annual ski trip in Mammoth Mountain.

Omegas are committed to community involvement. The multiple events we have every quarter allow Omegas to experience all the opportunities for community involvement. As an Omega, we are able to walk away from each service event with a more opened mindset, a sense of accomplishment, and a great experience in giving back to the community. Whether it be a canned food drive, planting trees, or tutoring children, Omegas have been there, and have been a part of the community's efforts of philanthropy. Omegas are proud to be annual volunteers for local events like the San Tai San Basketball Tournament. Our official philanthropy is the Little Tokyo Recreation Center in their ongoing efforts to build a community center. We donate thousands of dollars annually to their campaign from funds we raise through Battle Royale.

Omegas have a long tradition of excellence in athletics. We have won countless tournaments. Omegas also participate in basketball tournaments held by other organizations throughout the year. Although basketball is our sport of choice, we play for competitive intraumural teams in other sports like football, volleyball, and soccer. If there is a sport you play, there's probably an Omega that plays it.
